Research needs in the pavement industry

Some research needs have been identified during the course of this network. They consist of:

• rapid construction;
  
• encourage innovations;
  
• development and implementation of generic design methodology (also with environmental indicators);
  
• performance based specifications (in European Standards): allows use of local materials and recycled materials;
  
• assure durability of ‘new’ materials;
  
• CTB: control cracking through precautions, investigation of precracking.
