Demonstration section

A demonstration section has been constructed instead of the planned accelerated full-scale testing (D15) , to demonstrate the ECOserve principles:

• a thin cement treated base with blended cement;
  
• a thin asphalt topping;
  
• local materials;
  
• a thickness calculated with the ECOserve design tool.

The location of the demonstration section is the N207 in the Netherlands (close to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol).

Pavement structure:

• Reference:
  
  • 115 mm asphalt
    
  • 250 mm base (mixed granulates)
    
  • 750 mm sand
• ECOserve type pavement:
  
  • 30 mm asphalt wearing course (stone mastic asphalt)
    
  • 25 mm crack relieving asphalt layer
    
  • 250 mm CTB (100% recycled local materials+cement)
    
  • 750 mm sand

The performance of the demonstration section is being monitored:

• compressive strength;
• E-modulus;
• FWD;
• tensile strength;
• …
