Regulations related to the environmental behaviour of construction products


Following regulations, related to the environmental behaviour of construction products, exist or are in preparation in Europe and in European member states:

Construction Products Directive (CPD)

  • Mandate to address ER3 criteria of the CPD accepted by Standing Committee Construction on October 26 2004
  • Mandate has been issued to CEN in Spring 2005
  • Work plan for BT176 (now in the mean time CEN TC 351) drafted
  • Start of the horizontal standardisation work on:
    • Sampling
    • Indoor air
    • Impact to soil and groundwater (input from ECO Serve Cluster 1)

Building Materials Decree (Netherlands)

This regulation dealing with all construction materials (traditional and alternative materials) is in force since 1995. There has been a significant amount of experience gained in dealing with environmental aspects of materials. Information can be found at: http://www.vrom.nl (in Dutch).
